Schön schlicht und edel hier - wobei mir die auffälligen und appetitanregenden Foodfotos im früheren Seitenkopf auch immer sehr gut gefallen haben... Komisch, lach, ich hab ja selbst nen Blog: ich glaube, die Lust zu redesignen hat man nur als Blogbetreiber, die Leser haben's lieber "gewöhnlich", also alles da, wo's immer war...

I honestly preferred the old design. It was full of color, looked fresh. The current design is well organized, but it feels static with all the black.

this looks so clean, sleek, tidy, fresh! Like a tall cool glass of water in the hot summer! I love the all white, I love the font, I love that the main text body is now center oriented and not left as before, I love that the pics of the posts are bigger - now they are the focal point, not the masthead, which was always nice, but same for a whole long month! Not that I didn't like the old one, but as that was new, I needed some time to get used to it - whereas this one immediately has won me over. Great design, Nicky and Oliver!

Some nice new ideas on the layout, but I think that the previous profile was better. Sure, the site needed some re-hauling but the change of design profile was - in my opinion - not for the better.

I'm an almost silent reader and enjoy coming to your site for the recipes. I liked the old layout, but think the new one is much more sleek and modern. Good job!

Sorry, leider ermpfinde ich die Umstellung als blanker Horror, nichts mehr von Entspannung beim aufrufen, nur das Gefühl einer falschen , resp. noch nicht aufgeschalteter Seite, keine beruhigenden Farben mehr, nur noch alte Schrifttypen auf möchtegern modern getrimmt. Keine ansprechenden Fotos der letzten Rezepte auf der ersten (noch nicht gescrollten) Seite.
Ihr habt's sicher gemerkt, ich gehöre wahrscheinlich nicht zu eurem Zielpublikum (jung, modern, vernetzt, www site-erfahren, etc.), habe die Seite jedoch trotz geringer Englischkenntnisse sehr genossen, mancher Stress im Geschäft wurde durch ein kurzes Aufrufen und verweilen in eurem Leben/Küche gemildert und manches Rezept mit Erfolg ausprobiert!
Na ja ich werde wohl nicht verhungern, aber der Spass am surfen ist mir heute vergangen. Euch wünsche ich jedoch trotzdem viel Erfolg mit der neuen Site, möge sie vielen gefallen und erfolgreich sein!

Love the new look, very different and brave! The only thing I'll be missing is your lovely masthead. I can understand the urge to do a blog relaunch, mine gets changed at least once a year to be up to date. Keep up the great work!

The new design makes me come back even more often, the layout is more restricted to the stuff that matters.

I'll be honest. I miss the giant splash image w/colour-matched logo-title (maybe out of habit, but...). I felt it was what made the site distinct from others.

The new design is very stark in comparison. Almost too much maybe? It does make what photos/graphics that are on the page, pop. But it feels less unique than before.

Either way, as long as it makes you happy. It's not like I'm going to stop reading...! XD

I love the simplicity of the new design! It'll be great for showcasing your photography. Can't wait for a new post!

I still remember your first layout with the chocolate bar picture and I loved it and then the layout with the huge header picture and I loved it and now this super pure layout and guess what? I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Two thumbs up for leaving the beaten path, you rock!

Sieht sehr schön aus, das neue Design! Ich fand zwar die tollen bunten immer absolut fantastisch! aber das neue ist auch ganz schön :) nur für meinen Geschmack etwas zu "schwarz-weiß"! Aber sehr gut gelungen!! ganz zu schweigen vom Inhalt dieser Seite, der ist unübertrefflich ;)!!

Im ersten Moment dachte ich auch, dass ich auf der falschen Seite gelandet bin ... das neue Blogdesign finde ich sehr aufgeräumt, klar gegliedert und übersichtlich, aber nicht mehr so appetitanregend wie das alte Design. Beim alten Design war auf den 1. Blick klar, dass es sich hier um einen Food- und Genussblog handelt, beim neuen Design kommt das meiner Meinung nach nicht so deutlich rüber.

Aber das wichtigste ist ja, dass das Design den Blogbetreibern gefällt - und dass die Rezepte gut sind. Und das sind sie! :)

Wowzers! love the new minimalist design. So many blogs out in the blogosphere are too busy looking so I really appreciate how you have laid everything out. It's clean, easy to navigate and the black and white theme allows your beautiful photographs to "pop". Also I have to say that being able to change the font size is pretty awesome! Great job and congratulations!

I do have to say that I must count myself a bit among the whiny folks who really loved the old, more colorful look. Well, that was earlier today.

After looking at your new layout for a couple of hours now, yes, I checked all your updated pages, too, I have to give you that: __you pulled it off once again__!

The photos pop incredibly, the high contrast, it all looks super stylish, in a more grown up kinda way.

This design, kind of modern and sleek. But I really preferred the old one because it seemed a little warmer and more inviting. Either way its the contents that people come back for.

Honestly - I liked the old design better. To me it looks like before your big change the (always stunning) images of your creations took the center of attention, whereas now the text dominates everything else. I guess I'll get used to it, though.

This is a big change and I have to say I like it. No, love it. Many blogs have become incredibly cluttered, too much for my taste, it's a sight for sore eyes to see something so well balanced and focused. Most people are afraid of changes, but never forget, it takes pioneers to conquer new heights ;)

Wow, but *wow* at some of the feedback here. Skimming across them, it looks like you daringly crossed sacred boundaries by changing the layout of your blog.

I've been a long term, albeit passive reader and have seen your blog and layout evolve over time, and always for the better. Change is never easy to deal with, at least for some people, obviously!, but that should never stop your creative drive.

I do have to admit that the change in direction is somewhat radical, but I like it a lot, as it focuses on what is important: your excellent photography & text.

The irony: I may go out on a limb here, but my bet is that your layout will be copied again before you know it, perhaps even by one of the above "critics".

Ich lese schon lange euren Blog und habe viele Rezepte mit Begeisterung ausprobiert! Jetzt kommentiere ich auch das erste Mal, denn leider gefällt mir euer neues Design überhaupt nicht! Das alte Design war so schön hell und farbig, so beruhigend und man fühlte sich sofort heimisch. Auch die Foodfotos fand ich fantastisch, sie haben viel zur besonderen Atmosphäre des Blogs beigetragen. Das jetztige Layout empfinde ich als zu hart, zu kalt, zu Textlastig und viel zu schwarz/weiß, vor allem aber fehlt der besondere Touch!
Schade :-(

ohhhh, ich muss sagen, klar, der neue blog ist nicht schlecht, aber mir fehlt die atmosphäre vom ursprünglichen blog, der so anders war als alle anderen blogs die ich kannte!
dieser hier ähnelt anderen blogs viel mehr und hat mit dem ursprünglichen, außer den inhalten, rein gar nichts mehr zu tun. wirklich schade.

schade, das alte design fand ich einfach vollkommen! das hier ist sicherlich eins der besseren aber nicht so einzigartig und unverkennbar wie das frühere. wehmühtig blättere ich die gallerie durch, die im alten stil verblieben ist... ich hoffe, das renovieren schlägt keine wellen unter den sonstigen bloggern - es wäre für mich es eine horrorvorstellung, wenn smittenkitchen, 101 cookbook und chocolate & zucchini usw auch noch umkrempeln würden, denn etwas konstantes und alt vertrautes im internet zu haben, ist gerade der reiz an diesen seiten!

I'm still used to your old design, even if this one is not bad.
I have just difficulties with my brower, seems that it doesn't recognise the wider page. I had troubles in see all the horizontal area of the page, I had to move with the cursor, no below bar present.
The "horizontal scrollbar issue" for narrower browser windows is now fixed.

Das "fehlende Farbenfrohe", würde ich effektive Reduktion nennen und kommt mir in meiner Leseroutine sehr entgegen. Die Texte sind wesentlich besser zu lesen, die Photographie kommt besser zu Geltung.

Das man nicht immer den Geschmack aller Leute trifft, weiss ich nur zu gut und kann so manchen Kommentar hier durchaus nachvollziehen, sofern man die Zielgruppe berücksichtigt.

Wegbereiter haben es nie leicht!

Und die Kopfzeile mit dem wunderbaren Zitat und dem Seiher finde ich jetzt schon toll!
Was mich wundert: Ist es richtig so, dass auf den PDF-Dokumenten der Rezepte zum Drucken oben "nur" ein Quadrat mit schwarzen Linien zu sehen ist?

um ehrlich zu sein, mochte ich das alte design auch lieber, auch wenn ich sonst ein freund von "simpel & klar" bin. aber eigentlich war das alte design genau das für mich. hier brauchte ich erstmal, um überhaupt die rezepte zu finden.
erinnert mehr an einen modernen blog jetzt, vorher war's ne hübsche food -seite für mich...
vielleicht braucht's bei mir aber auch einfach ein bißchen eingewöhnug ;-)

nachtrag (ziemlich wichtig!)
- ich bin beim ersten aufruf automatisch auf "about" gelandet! wenn ich nochmal drauf gehe, lande ich auf der "home" und jetzt erklärt sich natürlich einiges, warum ich so verwirrt war. das ändert alles :)

Das neue Design sieht schon gut aus, aber das alte Design habe ich einfach GELIEBT! Das monatlich wechselnde Bild im Header (und passend dazu die Schriftfarbe...?), auf eine Art bunt und frisch und auf eine andere Art auch irgendwie schlicht, da alles so gut zusammenpasste.

Ein bisschen mehr Farbe hätte mir sehr gut gefallen, ich kann aber absolut verstehen, dass ihr auch mal etwas neues wolltet (bin ich auch eine ständig-an-ihrem-Blog-rumbastel-Tante...)!

Now you've gone and done it, you two! Made yet another delicious days statement... It says: we do what we love, the way we love to do it! And that's what makes d:d so addictive and personal. Your readers, as always, will stretch and grow with you...that's half the fun. I think the new design is, once again, brilliant- it says old newsprint meets modern and sleek. It's like Munich itself: there's the vintage, and then there is cutting edge. It looks like the perfect stage for some incredible food photography. Looking forward to the continuation of the best food blog around, hands down!

Please change the layout back to the original version! I loved it, and when times got busy sometimes I could only find the time to look at your blog to see the changing masthead. It looks less like a professional gig now. I love your recipes and everything you guys do otherwise. <3

Und schon bin ich ein bisschen enttäuscht, denn ich mag das "alte" Design wirklich außerordentlich gerne: Die Farben, grafische Gestaltung, Fotos, alles rund ohne verschnörkselt zu sein - außerordentlich schön und einladend. Ich habe diesen Blog für mich erst vor kurzem entdeckt, deswegen war natürlich alles auch noch neu und interessant für mich. Das neue Design ist mir auf den ersten Blick etwas zu gerade und eigentlich nicht bunt genug. Aber die Inhalte mag ich!
Deinen Wunsch nach einem neuen Look kann ich bestens nachvollziehen: Wenn man eine Seite oder einen Blog über längere Zeit betreibt, kann man "sich" irgendwann einfach nicht mehr sehen...

I have to say that this is one of the best site makeovers I have seen for years. It transfers the development of the medium and combines it with your great content. Maybe it is a little bit more "stylish" and "reduced" compared to the last one, but the optical structure and reading flow is less cluttered and therefore easier to consume. You always have been an inspiration to me, not only with your food and the philosophy of enjoying the right things (which I share) but also on web design.

I've come back after some days. I can say that I appreciate the makeover now. It required some time to get understood, as a reader that loved the old version and its colors.

You really gave a new look and a new soul to your blog in this way.

Zunächst Hut ab, für die mutige Entscheidung, das Layout so radikal zu ändern. Man muss sich selber gut in der eigenen Haut fühlen. Der neue Blog ist klarer strukturiert, konzentriert sich auf das Wesentliche. Schade finde ich nur den völligen Verzicht auf eine frische Farbe, an das viele Schwarz muss ich mich noch gewöhnen. Aber das werden wir alle sehr schnell tun :-)

Anfangs habe ich mich auch gewundert und fand ´s schade, dass die vielen Farben weg sind. Dann eine Nacht drüber geschlafen und - schwupps - schon ans neue Design gewöhnt und für gut befunden!

Huch, was für ein Schreck in der Morgenstunde! Im ersten Moment dachte ich, irgendwas stimmt mit meinen Bookmarks nicht, aber glücklicherweise bin ich ja doch richtig gelandet.
Für sich betrachtet, finde ich das neue Design sehr schick - klar, schnörkellos und ohne viel Schnickschnack. Dem Vergleich zum vorigen Design hält es aber nicht stand, das hab ich geliebt und war schon begeistert, wenn sich Dein Blog geöffnet hat. Der Seitenaufbau war vielleicht ein wenig unübersichtlicher, aber nichts geht über die wunderschönen Header, die Farben, usw. usf.
Beim neuen Design wird erst auf den 2. und 3. Blick klar, dass es sich hier um einen Foodblog handelt, beim alten war es auf den ersten klar.
Ich werd das alte Design wirklich sehr vermissen, aber die Autorin und die Rezepte bleiben ja, das ist ein Trost ;o)

Everything is so big! I have to scroll so much because of the huge letters and whitespaces. Even The "smaller font" doesn`t help!
I liked the different colors an pictures every month too!
This one could be anyones page, it doesn`t look like a foodblog. in my opinion the small sieve is not enough.

I really like the new layout. It's clean, but also very clever. I love the touches of red that pop up when you hover your cursor over different categories. Your photos absolutely stand out now. Before, I felt that they were a bit too small and got lost in the design. The only thing I would change would be to switch back to the graph paper behind the recipe ingredients, but I just love graph paper and never use anything else!

i haven't been on your website in a while (i used to follow it devotedly) and i come back on and it's redesigned! looks great (though looked amazing before)! just thought i should compliment!

Ja, schade - ich fand das alte Design auch viel ansprechender und appetitanregender. Dieses ist vom Desgin her schön, passt aber meiner Meinung nach überhaupt nicht zum Inhalt. Und die riesige Schrift mit den übergroßen Fotos erschwert durch ständiges Scrollenmüssen das Lesen statt es zu vereinfachen. Auch wenn die Rezepte nach wie vor TOLL sind (wir haben schon viele nachgekocht)....

Als die Seite erschien, habe ich gedacht, ich hätte aus Versehen, eine amerikanische Zeitung aufgerufen — und den Eindruck kriege ich jetzt nicht mehr aus meinem Kopf! Echt schade um das alte Design, aber vielleicht bin ich etwas konservativ.

I first came across your new design through my iPhone and I thought it looked fantastic and refreshing. Not too many blogs take the time to design a great mobile version of their site and yours is airy, clear, with the little design details that makes it obvious it's not an out of the box theme, but a very well crafted site. On a mobile, you don't want bells & whistle - you want to be able to access and read the information you're looking for easily.

I couldn't wait to see the full site, and I'm sad to say I think it falls a little short. Don't get me wrong: it is clean, very well made, clear and straight to the point. But I also think that your previous site, even though maybe you grew bored with it, was still one of the most beautiful, colorful and warm food blogs I know. It suited your prose and your photography to perfection. I think a food site (except for a few exceptions) wins by being warm and inviting, so you feel like you enter an old friend's home when you visit it. On the new site, I like the fact that it's less crowded and information is better presented but I miss the splash of color that set Delicious Days so much apart from the rest.

I hope you don't take all these comments too much to heart. People sometimes need time to adjust... perhaps it'll grow on me as it did on you. You're still in my top 5 favorite food blogs and that's not about to change!

Nothing wrong with minimalism but the new blog looks like done up in an ordinary wordpress template and blends in with all the others out there.
I hate to be negative cause I loved visiting your site, admired your style and have recommended it often. But all of a sudden I am a lot less eager to come back.

I am starting to see how Typography is being used at the most beautiful way...very well done.

It needs more color, but the new site looks great. The old one was so squished to the side I felt like I was on a mobile phone.

i dig it! the bright colors on the previous banner were lovely. but this, is hip. the white space, dotted lines around the image, and the font - keep it light. and, like many others, i think your primary image stands out more and is not competing with the color of the banner.

I love the redesign! So simplistc and elegant. I also love the large font, your new design is brillant!

This design is really amazing, I can't imagine the work behind this.

As much as I love simplicity, this new design seems like it has taken the "delicious" out of the equation.

I will miss the vibrance of the previous design.

Hey, Nicky! It's a nice new look, but I miss the old one... i'm sorry to say that, 'cause I imagine, a whole lotta work went into it. I love black-and-white, and I love minimalism, but the earlier one had a look and feel that always made my juices flow whenever I came over (sorry if my English is not correct, I'm Hungarian). With the beautiful monthly headers and the sidebar pictures that one looked much more like a nice magazine, rather a blog... actually I loved it the most before you added that additional column, but I loved it even after that.
But I guess, I understand your motives for a design change... I'm something like designer, too.
Anyways, regardless of design, I'll keep coming back!

das neue design gefällt mir sehr gut. Es wirkt meiner Meinung nach sachlicher, nüchterner, was die schönen Fotos mehr in den Vordergrund rückt. Die Schlichtheit (Grösse & Wahl des Font) erinnert ein wenig an Bücher- oder Printlayouts! (Ist da evtl. ein neues Buch in Planung?!)
Auf jeden Fall werde ich weiter mit grosser Freude diesen Blog ansteuern! =)

Sorry, but your design lost its deliciousness. It's the difference between reading a colorful glossy magazine and the want ads. As a designer myself, the changing masthead theme and colors, wonderful pictures, and brilliant photoshop effects are what inspired me to return to your site again and again (oh, and the recipes of course!). It was quite simply one of the most artistic and elegant sites I've seen on the web. I could almost teach an entire class, using your website as an example, on how to get repeat traffic. I do understand the need for redesigns every few years, but shouldn't the design should be an improvement on the old one, both in readability and visual interest? In this case, I think your practicality got in the way of your inspiration.

I too loved loved loved your old design. It made you feel decadent and that you had arrived on a magazine. I made sure I checked the monthly header and even the stories you linked to.

The good thing is the content you are writing is still great and that's the main reason I come :)

Design is good, but on my screen the new font looks very big, I feel I need to step back a little.

Hello and I apologize for being a little late to the redesign party.

I was shocked when I first arrived. I thought there was something wrong with my browser. You know, I was expecting to see the familiar site but I was greeted with the new design and it was an unexpected blast.

I respect your decision to change the site. The old site was visually more appealing to me. The old site was odd in some ways though and I hoped that someday it might be redesigned. This current reincarnation of the site isn't quite what I thought you'd end up with though. It's almost as if the site design doesn't compliment the content but stands as a direct opposite to the content. I don't even know what that means but I guess the boldness and starkness of the black and white design takes away in some way something from the beautiful imagery that I've always appreciated. Your beautiful photographs and food preparation should be lovingly coddled within a beautiful template and I don't feel that this is doing that.

But who am I to criticize the artist? I shouldn't suggest to the master with what colors to paint or what canvas to use.

What you two do is fantastic and I'm glad you do what you do.

What a big surprise on my return from holiday! Though... Not a pleasant one, I have to say. It really bothers me that the logo in the main page takes most of the screen. Why not make it an independent "first main page"? About the "newspaper style headline", it is cool, but also takes so much space that it's difficult to have a general overview of the post at first sight. Same for the font size! Still, congratulations on your great work with this website! Its contents are matchless! I hope you ´ll take the best of the critics to keep on being the best!
