Hot garlic (two cloves, grated)/ginger (one inch grated)/lemon (half, squeezed)/honey (to taste, usually one or two Tbs)/black pepper (a few twists) tea. Drink two or three cups throughout the day and eat the ginger and garlic in the bottom of the mug if you can. It works everytime for me.

Also, I always treat myself to Korean takeout hot and sour soup. I don't know why, but it works wonders with the tea.

A little natural Bio yogurt can be quite soothing, also white foods as others have said,... mashed potatoes; rice, perhaps flavoured with a little soy sauce is good to have too once you feel a bit better. Tiny amounts at first and plenty of water.
