Upgrading - should I remove previous or install over it?

No errors, just trying to avoid them if possible. Most plugins want you to either uninstall the previous version or deactivate it, put the new files up, and then activate it again… but I see nothing either way with this item. Will it make a difference if I just install over the old directory? I want to make sure I'm not going to lose the forms I've created by doing so.

Thanks for any insight.

Here are a few things (I recommend) to do:

  • make a backup of your WP database (can't have too many)
  • make backups of the existing forms (BACKUP feature)
  • updating:
  • deactivate cforms
  • backup old cforms directory and rename it  (keep it)
  • upload new cforms dir (don't just overwrite the existing one)
  • activate cforms

That should be it.
