Hi,
I am using the cforms II plugin (which really is great!) for Wordpress but somehow I can't get the tell-a-friend function to work properly.
I am using the speciali 'tell-a-friend' input boxes and everything should be ok, however when sending the mail off, only the admin & the sender him/herself will receive an email. The 'friend' does not receive anything at all. I have really no clue on how to fix this.. I was hoping someone here could give me some tips on this matter.
I am using Wordpress 2.2.1, cforms 540, IE/FF. No other form plugins are being used.

What's your URL?
Can you send me a copy of the form (made with the BACKUP button on the cforms II admin page)?

i have a similar issue. current implementation. testing of this has been via ip address, but with any luck, the domain repointing will be active overnight, and you can see this working at http://www.synthaetica.com (currently this link goes to my business site, so you'll need to wait for it to produce something called Synthaetica Digitography)
my tell-a-friend form does this: it sends the admin mail just fine. but the recipient receives the user's confirmation mail, and the user doesn't receive anything. i have tested this with several accounts.
two things on this implementation: 1) one of the field names has an apostrophe in it (Friend's Email), but changing that has not made any improvement, and 2) i am not using the CC: me option. so i have an explicitly constructed auto-confirm message that i KNOW is being sent to the recipient.
- cforms version 5.5
- any browser
- linux/apache
- PHP Version : 5.1.6-pl6-gentoo
- MYSQL Version : 4.1.20
- wordpress 2.3
- no other plugins touching mail

That is correct, the "auto confirmation" is being abused to act as the recipients notification. So you need to change the text in the auto confirmation setting to accomodate.
The user currently doesn't get a confirmation. You could quite easily code a BCC or wait for v5.6 (it's on the list)…

Hi,
I'm having the same problem as Geoff was. I put the proper code my single.php file, enabled TAF for the form and the post, but the form is not 'telling my friends'. I've developed a form for a contest where users can tell 3 friends to enter also (3 TAF '*friend's email' fields).
Comment feature is off for this form. auto-confirmation is on, but I'm using cforms version 8.5.2. Been putting upgrading off due to time and worries of deleting things or not being able to restore my forms.
I'm using wordpress v 2.5.1
Any ideas??

TAF can only have one friend input field, it doesn't support multiple friend input fields for anti spam reasons.
Start with the TAF preset, it's got all you need. Or apply it on a new form (add one) to not loose your current one.

H'lo,
I edited the form and took out the extra TAF fields so there's only 1. I tested it, but it didn't tell a friend. Here's the URL:

The post is marked private, so if you aren't able to access it, I will email you a password etc.
Thanks :)

Ok, I figured out from reading on this forum that the auto-confirmation setting actually is the thing that sends the email to the friend. (That doesn't match with the directions in the plugin interface, so that makes it confusing. Also, the name "auto-confirmation" doesn't sound like it would go to the friend.)
I got the plugin to work except for one thing: I can't have a customized message going to the admin account. For some reason, it's the message in the Admin Email Message Options section that gets sent to the recipient and cc'd to the sender, not what's in the Auto Confirmation section. In fact, what's in the Auto Confirmation section seems to be totally ignored/overriden by what's in the Admin Section.
The subject of the Admin section does get sent to the admin, so that's a nice way of differentiating it.
And the subject in the CC section is what gets sent to both the sender and friend.
Whew!
Hope that helps someone else out there. I couldn't find any resolutions on this forum, so thought I'd post at least where I got to on my own.
Cheers,
Julia
