I have found two other topics that seem connected to my problem. I have tried the method described in this post (broke the German Umlaute and didn't really work but seems to be a good start).
Also I found this other post that might be connected but doesn't give any solutions for ME, the user.
I have developed a site with about 20 forms on a test server. Now I wanted to move the whole thing to my main server. This is where problems began.
I backed up all cforms settings in global options and restored them on the new server.
All forms were there but…
- the select boxes next to form fields looked weird
- field options popup was empty and firebug console threw this error:
XMLHttpRequest cannot load mytestserver/wp-content/plugins/cforms/js/include/textfield.php. Origin http://mynewserver is not allowed by Access-Control-Allow-Origin.
- In Global Options – CAPTCHA, it said:
Warning: opendir(/var/www/vhosts/mytestsite/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/cforms/captchafonts/) [function.opendir]: failed to open dir: No such file or directory in /homepages/16/98234988888888/htdocs/mynewsite/wp-content/plugins/cforms/cforms-global-settings.php on line 884
There I saw that somewhere there must still be the absolute path to my test server. After some testing I found that the absolute path was IN the backup/restore file (first I thought, that my abspath was wrong). So it was imported right with all the other data.
Next thing I tried was changing the path in the database. But that only left me with corrupted settings as described in the first post I linked.
So far I have not found a solution to this.
I would like it if the system looked for the absolute path somewhere else but in the options (maybe abspath.php) so you could easily backup forms on one server and restore them on another one.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for any help!!!! It is much apreciated!
There are so many forms and it would kill me to have to create them all over again.
I would really like to store absolute path outside of the backup-file from global settings.
Or I would like the abspath.php to be "stronger" than the setting that is exported with the rest of the settings if you make a backup in cforms global settings.
That would help. But it seems in the case described above, the abspath.php is ignored.
Thx for listening…
