Not receiving auto confirmation email

Please replace the ??? with your data!

[desc]: I'm unable to get the auto-confirmation email to send. I am receiving the email that is sent from the form but the user is not receiving a confirmation email. I've tested this on another server and it's working perfectly ok but now I've had to move to a different server it doesn't want to send! I think it's something to do with the server set up possibly blocking the email but my provider wants to know a) the from address (which I presume is what I have set up in the "From" field under Admin Email Message Options and b) the to address for the form – I'm presuming the destination the form get's sent to to get processed.

I've been using cforms for months and this is the only time I've encountered such an issue.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

If the admin email works then cforms and the general config appears fine. If you don't recieve the auto conf email, then that indeed can have to do with the FROM address being blocked by the users mail server or the email gets caught in a spam folder or, or, or…see the FAQs, too.

Thanks for getting back to me about this.

I've actually noticed something very strange. They were getting delivered but were coming back to me as a failure notice. The reason for this is that the email address was incorrect.

It seems to be adding an extra character on the end of the email address. For example email@email.com would actually be delivered to email@email.comg and therefore getting returned to me as there's no such domain as .comg

Any ideas? I've reinstalled cForms but still the same is happening

not sure what could be causing this.

are you using my-functions.php?

can you add a CC field and turn off auto conf. Does this work?

I've tried that and the same happens. No my-functions.php is being used. What's strange is that I developed the site on one server and that worked okay. I then transferred the site to a different server and that's when it stopped working. Do you think there's anything on the server set up that could be causing this not to work? Is there any details I can email you of the server configuration?

if it worked on one server and it doesn't on the other, than it surely has to do with the server setup, logically anyway.

is it always the same extra character at the end of the user email? have you tried different ones?

does it make a difference if you enable/disable Ajax for a form?

can you try to use the SMTP feature (global settings) as opposed to the standard PHP mail() way which cforms uses by default.

Apologies Oliver… I've found the problem. For some reason the "suffix for email tracking" got filled with my email address (not sure how). But I've removed that now and everything seems to be working A OKAY. Thanks for the support.

Hi there,

I have the same problem where the auto confirmation e-mail gets back to me because cforms add the first letter of my email address to the user adress… I tried everything mentioned in here but to no extend..

Greencode, it seems to be working for you now, you mentionned "suffix for e-mail tracking" . I have trakcing off (I think..) But where would I be able to see this feature ? I looked in Global options and tracking (database) is indeed disable.

May thanks,

Nicolas

Nicolas,

You can find the "suffix for e-mail tracking" at the bottom of the Form Settings under "
3rd Party Read-Notification Support".
