When I click the 'edit' button, an Ajax window pulls up entitled 'Input Field Settings', but then hangs.
I've tried on FF and IE, but can't seem to figure out why the form hangs. Firebug doesn't appear to reveal much. Any thoughts? FWIW, I'm able to send contact forms ok, I just can't configure them with the right drop down data via the edit wizard.
Thanks
Matt

Hard to tell without seeing the Firebug results of the Ajax attempt. Can you troubleshoot the client/server communication with Firebug?
You also might want to check if the dialogs are actually accessible, e.g.
/wp-content/plugins/contactforms/js/include/textfield.php
I noticed you renamed the parent cforms folder 'cforms', which usually is 'contactforms' - not sure if that makes the difference.

on the topic of hanging
this is my 2nd e-mail
i get also hanging - but only when i input a field???? incorrectly
eg i want to have my e-mail pick up "Your Name"
for example: have tried various combinations of {Your Name}
i still do not know how to enter the {Your Name} or in which field. since if i put it in the expression field or the error field (all except the filed name) - on submit my browser hangs.
otherwise i do get messages sent

this is a kind request about a excellent plugin

that sounds strange and I don't quite follow...
eg i want to have my e-mail pick up "Your Name"
if you have an input field with the label "Your Name" your admin email should be able to resolve the avariable {Your Name}
since if i put it in the expression field or the error field (all except the filed name) - on submit my browser hangs.
Can you post the complete input field string?
What's you URL?

Hello,
Firefox 2 & Wordpress Version 2.3.3
Website in construction: http://www.norn.ch/wordpress/?page_id=17
I'm trying to set up a form with this great plugin, and I have the same problem: when I try to get the "Input field settings", sometimes it hangs.
My clues: it seems to only happen when there is a "regular expression" field.
Firebug error:
content[1] has no properties http://www.norn.ch/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/contactforms/js/cformsadmin.js Line 1
Thank your for your help.
Kind regards,
Sacha

Thanks for following up!

thanks again for the great plugin
and thanks for the quick response!!!!!
Your reply helped me to sort out the problem i had about "Your Name"
What I sence about the problems encountered - it is not always clear what where must go. ie the instructions not spelled out as in a user manual. (I die SAP implementations and compiled user manuals!!!!!!)
eg. "Your Name" - it must go in "field name" - but where is that stated and what else must or can go to into that field?
also the following:
Admin Email Message Options:
Submitted on: {Date} Via: {Page} By {IP} (visitor IP).
where must the above be entered to get the message like above sent to XXXXX
alsoin the following:
in file upload
Displayed Options Optional value
What info can go into those fields??? .
AS I GO ALONG I WILL CONTACT YOU AND WAIT FOR YOUR - AS NOW - QUICK RESPONSE.
HOWEVER THE BIGGEST PROBLEM NOW - MY FORM DOES NOT WORK IN IE 7!!!!
IT WORKS IN MOZILLA AND K-MELEON BUT DOES NOT DISPLAY CORRECTLY IN IE 7
SUGGESTIONS: - NEW FIELDSET CSS DISRUPTS THE SETTINGS OF IE7????
COULD YOU PLEASE LOOK AT PROBLEM AND ADVICE!!!
MY E-MAIL: charles@justmail.za.net
MY WEBSITE - AND PLEASE REMEBER IT IS STILL UNDER CONSTRUCTION - VIEW PAGE "CONTACT BIGDADDY" - URL IS HTTP://WWW.BIGDADDY.ZA.NET

You need to replace your keyboard, it is broken. In particular your caps lock, exclamation and question mark keys.
I guess most of your questions are answered by the cforms admin HELP page.
PS: I hope you didn't 'die' doing SAP implemenations...although it wouldn't be too hard to believe.

The CSS themes that come with cforms have been double checked on FF, IE and Opera for the classic and default Wordpress theme (that come with the WP install).
If your form looks not right, chances are it is due to your WP theme's CSS - for trouble shooting help you may want to take a look at the screencast in the CSS Styling forum section.

Hi! Thanks for that cool plugin!
I get the same hang from what we are talking about here. On any type of form field I use, the popup display hangs.
Although it works on localhost, I still have no clue why it does not on my server...

Hey,
First of all, it's a fantastic plugin. No doubt about it.
But the thing is, i got everything working but input field settings, i got the latest version of cforms II so i mean 7,53 and im running wp 2.3.1
When i click setting, i got a little orange page getting open, i see the loading icon and it loads, but nothing appears, form works fine, if a user fill it and send i recieve, CAPTCHA works fine and so on..
But i never get the input fields settings..

Interesting, you're the third user to report this. The good news: the form can be configured without the "wizard dialog".
Not sure why this is happening, since in the other two cases the content of those boxes was in fact delivered but together with a 404 error - which doens't make any sense whatsoever.
Only your web hoster may be able to shed some light on to this.

Hi again,
I dont know why, but 3 weeks ago i tried to use a java theme called extjs for wordpress and i also never get that open, it also loads but nothing showing up, and i worked about it but never got a solution except one solution, disabling the language option of wordpress so when i use wordpress in my own language with a support of language file that extjs theme never got open.
I thought it might be the same problem, made the language option disable for wp and also for cforms but still got the problem, *.mo files could make that problem appears i guess.
So im gonna give you some screenshots about it;
First it loads :
http://img329.imageshack.us/img329/3919/scr1a8813sp3.png
Second nothing appears :
http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/7784/scr1afec8rb9.png
So if you use any *.mo files with cforms, please tell me how to disable them at all. After that it might work i guess.

And one question, where you define language settings ? which file ?

cforms out-of-the-box doesn't come with any language/mo files. the only area you need to 'reset' is wp-config.php, this is were you determine for your blog which localization to use.
aside from recommendation above, I suggest you use firefox w/ firebug to actually see the Ajax request, the POST and RETURN contents and you'll see that the www server in fact does return what should go into that empty box.
but it also returns a 404 not found (or 403) which is nonsense. again only your web hoster can shed some light on this, unless you have access to the log file yourself and can help track down what happens...
