I looked at that I cannot still figure out what my misconfiguration is. I have contacted the server and they have been no help. I have used your forms before I never had this problem. Any suggestions on what configuration I might have wrong?

- Check if you have SMTP (external mail server) enabled under Global Settings
- if so, tripple check all its settings and verifiy with your provider
- Check your admin email and/or try a different admin email
- Check your FROM: email address and/or try a different address

Hi Oliver, yes I did communicate with the server and have tried a couple different email addresss
They asked my why I would have the external mail server box checked, wasn't sure how to answer that.
Then they gave me the info for the SMTP info
server address: mail.flygare.com
secure connection: no
Port – they said 25 or 2525 for outgoing, incoming 110 (any idea which one)
of course username and PW
And when I asked them about the box, POP before SMTP, there answer was they dont' know as they are not familiar with your program
and all email addresses seem to be fine
any other thoughts? thanks!!

Well, usually, if you don't know for sure that you need the 'external mail server' (for SMTP support), chances are you don't need it. Try without.
Then they gave me the info for the SMTP info
That's good, so this should be a backup plan if the default (non SMTP) approach doesn't work.

POP before SMTP is not specific to cforms, I wonder why they don't know that, it's simply an authentication mechanism used by some providers.

See if Wordpress sends you any admin emails, e.g. a "forgotten Password email".

I took over this midstream. I changed the email to the clients in the admin, but when I go to ask for a PW, it says that email isn't registered. So does that mean this site is registered under a different email? If so, how do I change that. and is that the reason for the problem?
thanks!

Interesting, when I do request a forgotten PW, I get
The e-mail could not be sent. Possible reason: your host may have disabled the mail() function…
I guess back to the server!

Yep, that's the issue. Check with your proivder to fix the root of the problem first.

Hi Oliver, I am back again. One last attempt. I have tried to work with this server and they have been bascially useless to me–they say, we don't understand this plugin, blah, blah, blah….. What's really frustrating is your plugin has worked elsewhere seamlessly, but not with them!
My client refuses to move to another server (for some crazy reason)
So I am reaching out one last time because I am at my wits end.
This is the page where the problem is.
http://www.flygare.com/?page_id=17
And other thing, there was someone else who was having the same problem and had worked it out with you — was in this servers forum. Her last post was this…

Got the forms working. Check it out http://truthsaves.org/whatever…..tact/
COOL!
I had to change the cforms.js file from
var sajax_uri = '/'; to something that the server would recognize. I tried almost every possible configuration and finally ended up with this (many thanks to Oliver, the author of the cforms plugin)
var sajax_uri = '/whatever/index.php/';
With that line changed, the form now works! Wow! Don't ask me why or how; I don't understand all this junk! But if you want to use cforms on your wordpress blog I'd be happy to help you out with it! Thanks for the assistance everyone.

If there are any last attempts you might be able to help me with, I would really appreciate it.

Finally talked to the owner of the hosting service and found out they are windows, not linux. Could this be the problem? I know WP and most plugins run a heck of a lot better on Linux.
He asked
Are you sure that this plugin/addon is meant to work on a windows server?
Does it authenticate with the server?
Does it rely on a Linux based feature?
Can you let me know. thanks!!

No it shouldn't matter.
Before trying to fix cforms, make sure that your WP install works: ie. that it can send administrative emails to you (e.g. new password requests/resets)

actually when I tried to get a new password, it came back as this error
The e-mail could not be sent. Possible reason: your host may have disabled the mail() function…
is this a server thing again? If so, what specifically should I ask them??
thanks for helping me so much on this!!!

ask them if they have.
and whatever their response is, ask them to help you sort this out. if your WP configuration (admin email) is fine, then it is due to their misconfigured web/mail sever.
