I forgot to back-up the special contact form I built before moving to a new server and a new version of WP and CForms. WHERE WOULD I FIND THAT FORM DATA??

On the old server (its gotta be here somewhere…):

  • I can no longer view the site via a browser because the DNS has changed.
  • I can get to all the files via F.T.P.
  • I have a complete copy of the database.

Is it xml? can't find such a file.

Is it in the database? can't find fields or tables that seem to be referenced in the code.

Any clue would be helpful.I have migrated everything else just fine, including the custom css.

PS – Thanks for adding that new folder, cforms-custom, by the way. REALLY HELPS with more efficient upgrades.Laugh

the problem is, that if you haven't made a backup first (before the move, which I recommend over and over again), chances are your SQL-restored settings may break and become corrupted – I've seen this quite a few times.

Is the SQL server still the old one, or is it also on a new server?

If it's on a new server, you're out of luck and can only try to restore your DB and hope the cforms settings won't get corrupted.

what version of cforms, that'd be great info to have?

I have access to the old server and the new server. I have deleted nothing.

Basically I have:

  • two versions of the same WP site
    • one on the old server (pre-2.7)
      • not viewable through a browser any more because dns was reset
      • CForms version info: Requires at least: 2.0.2; Tested up to: 2.5; Stable tag: 8.2
      • I might be able to negotiate the ability to see this info with old host -a VPS- who has not yet been cancelled. Instead, he has given me a SQL dump of the WP database – see below.
    • and one on the new server(2.7.1) (viewable via the domain because the dns is now set to this server)
  • SQL dump via phpMyAdmin of the old servers WP database was imported (as a new secondary database) via phpMyadmin to a subdomain on the new server, as a reference.

I am fully aware that the data did not cross over to the new WP site.

I am asking where the CFORMS info might be in the SQL dump database OR in the old database? Which table??

It seems that you've been using v8.2 which used the old way of storing cforms settings (a handful of cforms_XXX records in wp_options).

So retrieving the cforms_XXX and restoring them from the 'SQL dump' may actually work in your case.

The tracking tables are

  • $wpdb->cformssubmissions
  • $wpdb->cformsdata
