Error Messages not displaying on NON-AJAX Form
June 19, 2012

- cforms version – 14.5

- wordpress version – 3.3.1

- exact URL –

- Browser – Tested with IE, Latest FF, and Latest Chrome.

I was attempting to set up a multi-page form (a survey with ~20 questions) .  I select the multi-page option and it turned off AJAX, which was fine.  However, I added a regex |^(?!(Your Name)).+| to the "Your Name" field to prevent the form from being submitted with "Your Name" as the value of the field.  The Regex works to prevent the form from submitting, however, no error messages are displayed to the person submitting the form.  It does add a div <div id="usermessage3a" class="cf_info success success3 "></div> before and after the form, but it is empty.   I tried a few things to get it working, and finally figured out that in order to get an error message to show, I had to turn AJAX back on.

I can make this into a single form if I have to, to allow AJAX to remain on, but I will be dealing with approximately 50-65 fields (2-3 for each survey question, 1 text only, 1 select, and 1 comment box, plus the contact info) so it will likely get quite cumbersome if I do that, and I am wondering if I am missing an obvious setting that will fix this problem, or if it is a bug in this version.

One other thing, I have another site that has wordpress 3.3.2 with cforms version 13.2.2, I tried replicating the problem on that installation and as far as I can tell it does not have this same issue.

Error messages should appear with and w/o Ajax support turned on for a given form.

I can't replicate your issue locally, tough to trouble shoot then.

Can you try with a default form (which comes with two required fields), does that work?

I had an issue with the required fields messages not showing on multiple forms on a site. For me – it turned out to be a plugin conflict with "simple facebook connect" as soon as it was turned off it worked again. I made a copy of the site as a test site then went through and turned the new plugins off one at a time. Hope this helps someone.sf-wink
