Please replace the ??? with your data!

  • Your URL: http://???
  • The browser used: Mac Safari & Firefox
  • cforms version: 8.02
  • Your Wordpress version: 2.3.3

[desc]:Hello, Oliver. I'm loving cforms. I've gotten it working properly now, but I notice in Safari on the Mac that the Captcha image is not visible, and the box to its left where you enter the code is pushed down a little. When I attempt to submit the contact, I do get the alert that the code has not been entered. Here's the link to a screenshot:

The form looks and works fine in Firefox on the Mac.

Is there a way to correct this Safari issue?

Thanks a lot!

If no characters are shown in the CAPTCHA img, it is usually due to two things:

  • server limitations around creating images (see FAQs)
  • your browser not accepting cookies

The layout of the forms has been optimized for IE, Opera & FF together with the standard WP themes.

There is gazillion possibilities between your custom theme CSS, and browser types/versions that could be responsible for layout issues.

I forgot to mention that I'm running the website on a local server for the time being, and I had already bumped the php memory to 16M.

However, after unchecking accept cookies "Only from sites you navigate to," the Captcha image now shows up in Safari. So that's good.

As far as the code entry box that's pushed down a little, I'll probably just have to accept that, although when I used another form style, the box was not pushed down in Safari. So do you think maybe there still could be some adjustment made in the code to fix this difference? Or should I just let this rest?! :-)

Thanks a bunch!

Deb

Sure, I think there will always be a way to fix things for every browser, however, I'd have to push back, simply because I can neither test on Safari nor MAC in general.

Perhaps if you compare the CSS that works to the one that is not, you'll find the difference.

Firebug is fantastic tool for Firefox to troubleshoot layout issues, perhaps there is something similar for Safari?!

Those are good suggestions, Oliver. I'll take a look at the difference in the CSS for the two forms.

I hadn't heard of Firebug till I watched your cforms tutorial. I felt like that was such a huge discovery for me. I've started using it now, and it's fantastic. Not sure if there's anything like that for Safari, but I'll check into that.

Thanks very much for being so helpful.
