Thank you for your prompt response – very impressive!
I found a cforms folder in the plugins folder (from previous attempt) and deleted it. I also found 4 files which seemed to have a mention of cforms in them… lib_activate.php, lib_ajax.php, lib_email.php, and lib_options_sub.php
I changed the names to 'xlib…' on each of the 4 files.
Wordpress then indicated that 'lib_email.php' did not exist – so I changed the name back to original.
Then reinstalled cforms 10.5 (no update) – and it currently seems to be working – although I have not as yet inserted my first form – nor have I installed the update.
It's 2am in Munchen (as I type) ! So I will spend some time reading the help file (I don't believe this!) before I attempt my first form…
Is it critical that I install the upgrade? I ask this because I suspect that it was doing this that caused the original problem – my computer seemed to 'hang' during the activation of the upgrade – but this may have been a slow isp connection…
What do you advise?
But so far – so good – thanks for your help
