when I click "Reset Captcha Image" button, nothing happened. Do I have to enable AJAX to make it work?

Thanks,

Jeffrey

Has this worked for you before v5.5? The problem seems to either be another plugin or the way your hosting provider responds interferes with the ajax call.

I've seen this in cases where the free hosting caused this effect by placing a banner or admin type menu on each page of a blog. Anyway, the core issue is that the captcha image is not being returned per se, but a complete page.

No, it has never worked for me. I didn't report it because I didn't use it much in the past, but I recall clearly it didn't work for me with cforms II 5.4.

I am not using free hosting service, so there is no banner issue. But I do have some other plugins, such as wp-poll, wp-ratings, etc, do you think they are causing the problem?

Thanks,

It'd be worth turning the other plugins temp. off one by one to see if one of them is the culprit.

If none of them can be blamed, it may be related to how the web server operates. This is what the returned page said:

….HTTP 405 – Resource not allowed…

I'll send the complete page to your email, so you can better trouble shoot/address it with your hosting provider.

I just noticed a change in behavior, something you did on your end?

However, there now seems an issue in how the windows server resolves local directory paths, here is the path rendered by IIS:

…..[URL]/blogD:\\\\hshome\\\\lcconlin\\\\techhippos.net\\\\blog\\\\wp-content\\\\plugins\\\\contactforms\\\\cforms.php/cforms-captcha.php?ts='

it should be:

…..[URL]/wp-content/plugins/contactforms/cforms-captcha.php?ts=2'

I think I know what caused the "405" error, but I don't know how to fix it.

Here is the reason.

I have enabled Index in my hosting account so that user does not need to type in index.php when visiting my site, but it brought a problem: Index.php will not show up in the URL field. So if any plugin, including cforms, tries to use $_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'] to generate a postback url, the url will miss index.php which will cause a HTTP 405 error. In fact, in order to make cforms work on my site, I have to add "$action = str_replace("/?", "/index.php?", $action);" after line 1629 in cforms.php, which manually add "index.php" in the URL ( I am using the default permalink settings in my WP blog because all the others are not working for my Windows hosting plan).

I guess the problem of CAPTCHA image not being reset is related to this?

Thanks,

Yes, these two issues may be related (certainly a Windows/IIS phenomena), I'm looking into it right now.

Hi, I notice the same issue — captcha cannot be reset — but I must add I am just testing locally using XAMPP on windows. According to firebug, the problem seems to be with the jQuery version used by my theme, K2. When I click on the captcha reset button, firebug reports

Syntax Error: reset_captcha (

The debugger points at my theme's jQuery library, located at /themes/k2/js/jquery.js.php?ver=1.2.1

So perhaps there's a conflict with k2's jquery? The theme's source code is hosted here:

http://code.google.com/p/kaytwo/source

Using: Wordpress 2.3, K2 theme (svn), cforms v5.5 Didn't work with the first version I tried (v5.4) either btw.

Hard to tell without access to the blog, but what you wrote sounds logical – can you test with a different theme (or disable the jQuery part)?

Also check the theme's header to make sure there is a wp_head(); statement.

I just tested this with the default (Kubrick) theme. When I click on the captcha-reset button, firebug again throws up an error but it now points at cforms.js line 1 -- it begins with

 eval(function(p,a,c,k,e,d){e=function

P.S. I use the K2 theme – it has the wp_head(); statement.

It's not public yet but can give you login details – what's your email address?

Hi all,

I also have the problem that the Captcha Reload Link is broken. My sourcecode looks like this:

<a )="" title="CAPTCHA-Bild zurücksetzen" href="javascript:reset_captcha(">

What can I do about this?

I'm using the newest version of the cform II plugin (7.0), also the newest version of WordPress (2.3.2).

Kindest regards,
Martin

I suspect some plugin of yours to mangle the href="" part of the reset link. In case you don't have that many, can you turn them off one by one to see which one does it?

Happy New Year!

PS: What is happeing is that the title tag  gets magically inserted into the Javascript call…quite odd.

seems that there is a problem with WordPress 2.3.2 and cforms 7

I have the same set of plug-ins running with WordPress 2.3.1 and cforms 6.5 and the captcha reloads. (local dev setup)
