I'm using default values that auto-clear for the typical purpose, i.e. suggesting example values to the user. However, users can submit the form without changing these default values, effectively avoiding having to fill out a required field.
I can understand that there are cases when submitting default values is desirable (though this seems like the minority case to me). Is there a workaround using regular expressions?

Bump. How can I detect that the user is submitting a field with the default value unchanged? I don't see how regular expression supports this, i.e. that matches a string that does *not* contain the provided pattern. Help?

OfflineYes, that's possible and the recommended approach. I think this has been addressed in the forum before, Google may also give you starting points to assemble that short REGEXP.
