The header of the email includes a Content-Disposition: inline; which allows attachments to be displayed, well, inline – provided that the attachment type is supported by the email client. So it's a feature.

If you'd like to turn it off for good, you'll have to change it in the source (cforms.php), to e.g.:

Content-Disposition: attachment;

thx.

But this don't fix my problem:

header("Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=\\"formconfig.txt\\"");

header("Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=\\"formdata." . $_REQUEST['downloadformat'] . "\\"");

the mail:

This is a multi-part message in MIME format.

Content-Type: multipart/alternative; boundary="----=MIME_BOUNDRY_sub_message"
------=MIME_BOUNDRY_sub_message

Dispite "Content-Disposition: attachment;" it still shows it inline?  Then it may be an email client issue…
