to 2: I was actually referring to the data in wp_options, not the table structure. Can you see any data stored in wp_options that starts with cforms_…

to 3: any plugins (e.g. Role Manager etc.) installed

It works now. Apparently cforms (for the activation part only) is not compatible with the Installer plugin.

If anyone who runs into the same issue: deactivate Installer, activate cforms and then you can reactivate Installer.
