Please replace the ??? with your data!
- URL to the FORM: http://???
- The browser used: ???
- cforms version: ???
- Your Wordpress version: ???

Can someone tell me where can I find the options to fine tune the layout of a comment email? How to make the field names wrapped, the data put closer to them, and so on? I did try to search but couldn't find anything. Sorry if I explained it poorly, so I'm interested in the resulting email, not the layout of the form itself.

there are indeed quite a few post in the forum about it. ;-)
use your favorite html editor, craft your comment email and insert the right {variables} where appropriate. (see Help page for how to reference your form fields in an email via custom variables)

Thanks for the answer. Yeah, I'm doing that at the moment, and it's quite tiresome :). I got the html code for the table from Firebug, and am trying to get it to my liking. But the point is, let's say I add a new field, I need to manually adjust the code in admin emal message options? Isn't there a function that you use to dynamically generate the table, so I can just, you know, mess with it?

The (blue) table get's created as cforms parses the form, it's not a 10 line function that can be simply copied and 'messed with it'.
However, setting up a fancy HTML message template should not take more than 10-15 minutes.
Like I said take an HTML editor setup tables or DIV structures (make sure to only use inline CSS) and then fill in your references to the fields…it's really simple.
Yes, if you change your form you need to change your admin email template.

Thanks Oliver, I'd be hunting for the function otherwise. Encountered more problems, however, due to my extreme inexperience. I\\m using your code basically to get the same table, but have this huge empty blue space between "a form has been submitted on…" and the actual table fields. Could you be bothered to see for yourself if I send you an email? What\\s worse, gmail apparently ignores the table and dispays the message as text. The blank space is still there, of course…

Forgot to mention, yahoo email gets the table right at least.

When you apply CSS make sure to use in-line styles, gmail is peculiar about CSS in emails / email headers.

Thanks, gmail is starting to get it. I still can't get rid of the blank space between the header message and the table in yahoo. It's like I have the space for another table. Oh, and thanks for responding even during the travel, appreciate it.

Oliver, even though I unchecked all the preformatting and put in my html table that looks like it should, the plugin still generates it's own code that messes the whole thing up. Like that big wite space. Is there some option that I'm missing?
As for the discrepancy in email clients, I've decided to forgo the CSS and go for HTML only, that way there won't be any problems on their part. Hopefully.
If anyone had similar problem on their own and managed to solve it, I'd be grateful to hear of it.

Can you send me your backup file of the form, so I can take a look at the HTML code?

I too am having a similar issue – when someone sends in a request through the form I am using, it leaves huge white spaces between the field and the data the person has entered.
I have little knowledge on how to fix it.. any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, I sent it. I found out why some fields were diferent, but the huge white space remains. Can you tell me where can I find the settings for the default table, I mean .fs-td, .data-td?They are not in the theme files from what I saw. Also, when I'm using your preformatted table, I need another New Fieldset type field at the end, but the plugin apparently doesn't put it in the table if it's empty. Can I make it?

the default table layout it hardcoded (lib_ajax & lib_nonajax). but you can rebuilt the table to your exact requirements by simply turning off the inclusion of the default blue table and provide your own HTML/inline CSS in the custom text field (to reference your form fields, see Help page -> custom variables)

Got it. It seems that you have a very long fieldset name, which causes issues, try a short name and move the text into a text-only field…

Oliver, I have shortened it up and it seems to have helped a bit, I have a little more refining to do.
Thanks

I'm having this problem, too, Oliver. Here's my info:
There are 93 returns in the email notification before the form data starts. I added you as a BCC to this form admin notification if you want to test it out. Everything in the form is correct, it's just the huge amount of space that precededs the form info that's a problem.
Thanks, and thanks for a great plugin. I'm going to make a donation as soon as I can (times are tough).

No, the returns only show up in the HTML email (is that what you mean?) I'm using a table to separate the fields.
