W3C CSS (!) validation in relation to browser support is a major joke.

What is being complained about is best practice given the above mentioned circumstances. If this concerns you, simply don't use it, or create your own CSS cforms theme.

On a final note, not that it makes much of a difference, you should validate for CSS level 3.
