Picture yourself on a lazy Saturday afternoon. Both laundry and shopping for the weekend are done, lunch was merely a quick snack at the market and the dinner invitation from your friends is still many hours away. You crave … something. Something sweet. Something that doesn’t involve additional shopping or much work. Well, if that’s so, I either turn to my grandma’s sponge cake roll or my friend Sherry‘s galette.

Read the rest of Fabulously flaky - Sherry's impromptu fruit galette

Copyright © 2012 delicious:days.

My favorite part of having written two cookbooks? Readers’ emails, hands down. In these hectic times where people rarely take the time to tell others how much they appreciate their work, readers’ emails are THE BEST. For several reasons. On the one hand it’s a great way to find out which recipes your readers are most excited about and on the other hand – and more importantly – it warms my heart to read their personal stories around my recipes.

Read the rest of My favorite Chocolate Chip Cookies - and how to pimp them

Copyright © 2012 delicious:days.

Spring has been very kind this year, the weather has been pleasantly warm and sunny, we were able to fast-forward to sandals, BBQ and homemade ice cream – no complaints at all! By now our loyal ice cream maker would have been churning away for days, yet it has been put to a rest lately, popsicles are THE THING in our freezer right now.

Read the rest of Rice pudding popsicle with rasberries - My kind of frozen treat

Copyright © 2012 delicious:days.
Don't get me wrong, these cherries taste super on their own, but if you are on a serious cherry spree and keep looking for creative ways to cook or bake with them, roasting and caramelizing them in the oven is the way to go - and marinating them beforehand in a little Amaretto liqueur won't hurt either...

Strawberries have always been my favorite fruit. Usually with nothing more than a little sugar – just enough to get the juices flowing – and probably a tad too much freshly whipped cream on top, this is what I consider bliss. Well, considered bliss. This year, strawberries don’t really tickle my taste buds. At all. Oh, and adding insult to injury: it seems as if sweet cherries have quickly filled the vacancy!

Read the rest of Spiced Pavlova with caramelized cherries & pistachios

Copyright © 2012 delicious:days.
And yet, my American cheesecake memories not only have taken a prominent position, over the years I have tried various different recipes and have come verrrry close to THE original.

I still rave about the slice of cheesecake I had in a mall in San Francisco back in 2000, it was one of those ‘when you least expect it’ experiences. So neither were we on a quest to find the best cheesecake at the time nor anticipating anything special, we were plain hungry after a shopping spree and cheesecake was the first item we agreed on. Unpretentiously devoured with a plastic spoon, that slice was so wonderful creamy, it became THE measure of all cheesecakes for me ever since, unrivaled for many years.

Read the rest of Lime-Vanilla Cheesecake - A Creamy Classic

Copyright © 2012 delicious:days.
