Picture yourself on a lazy Saturday afternoon. Both laundry and shopping for the weekend are done, lunch was merely a quick snack at the market and the dinner invitation from your friends is still many hours away. You crave … something. Something sweet. Something that doesn’t involve additional shopping or much work. Well, if that’s so, I either turn to my grandma’s sponge cake roll or my friend Sherry‘s galette.

Read the rest of Fabulously flaky - Sherry's impromptu fruit galette

Copyright © 2012 delicious:days.

My favorite part of having written two cookbooks? Readers’ emails, hands down. In these hectic times where people rarely take the time to tell others how much they appreciate their work, readers’ emails are THE BEST. For several reasons. On the one hand it’s a great way to find out which recipes your readers are most excited about and on the other hand – and more importantly – it warms my heart to read their personal stories around my recipes.

Read the rest of My favorite Chocolate Chip Cookies - and how to pimp them

Copyright © 2012 delicious:days.

80. I filled more than 80 jars and bottles over the last month, some for our own pantry, some for a lovely new project.

When we travel I always keep an eye out for at least one special dish or recipe that I can recreate at home and add to my ever-growing recipe repertoire. Similar to how I connect songs with places we have been to or certain occasions, food does the same thing for me: it will instantly bring back those fun days and sweetest memories with the very first bite or spoon, scientifically - if there was such as thing – it’d be the palate memory effect. Our latest trip to the Maldives wasn’t anything short of neither traditional fare nor exquisite cuisine, and yet the dish I was dying to try back home, was the soup that was the prelude to our late night dinner, shortly after we reached the island Hadahaa.

Read the rest of Watermelon-Strawberry Gazpacho - Sweet Maldivian memories

Copyright © 2012 delicious:days.
This salad is THE salad - the first salad I remember eating with pure pleasure as well as the first salad I ever requested repeatedly from my grandma Luise.

Some of the recipes from my personal, day-to-day cooking repertoire I don’t consider blog-worthy. Even though they may have accompanied me throughout many years, they are typically dead simple and hardly need written instructions. So I thought. Today’s salad recipe is one of them, but since many friends (and just recently even Bärbel, Oliver’s mum) begged me for written instructions, I finally had to give in.

Read the rest of Grandma Luise's bacon lettuce - A favorite from my childhood

Copyright © 2012 delicious:days.
