I really like the suggestion on utilizing passionfruit. This is truly a unique twist on an old favorite of mine. To me, passionfruit is one of the most unique and wonderful tastes anywhere, and combining it with this chocolate cake is a great idea. Mmmm...another Delicious Day recipe to add to our archives.

That looks amazing - almost like the Aussie Pavlova, replacing the all too often disappointing meringue base with an unctuous chocolate cake.
Looking at the base recipe, I actually made something very similar last week, but in the miniature (http://lili.estrange.org/lili/?p=154).
I just had a wonderful idea - Butterfly Cakes, Flourless Chocolate Cake cupcakes with cream and your passionfruit mix.
Thanks for the inspiration!

Reminds me strongly of one of my favourites, Gateau Berbelle, which usually comes only with some almond slivers on top as the only (and sufficient) decoration and "pimping". What makes it a real treat is cutting it in half and applying a generous amount of marmalade (fyi - that's the bitter orange stuff) as an in-between and on-top layer before topping it with some slightly sweetened and lemonised whipped cream. Great blog here!
