Wow I am so happy to have found this recipe! Recently returned from Munich and the sights, sounds and flavor are still fresh in my mind. Can't wait to try this. I think I will wait for a cold Minnesota weekend...heat the house up and enjoy the treat!

Hw did you find out that it is rye flour and sour dough? I stood there watching them being made, last Sunday, and wanted to ask the baker a couple of questions, but realized I didn't know certain cooking terms in German. For instance where does the dough rise, in that little booth? Anyway, fun to see them made (while consuming one fres from the wood oven).

I have a wood cook stove in my apartment and I have been wanting to try making these--will use your recipe!

yellerKat, No worries! We are happy to report that everything went fine, nobody got injured and the kitchen is doing great, too ;)

Pille, Great to know I'm not the only one who loves dense bread! The next time I will try it with some wheat flour though, just to see the difference.

Melanie, I know your favorite stall, maybe we should have a Rahmfleckerl blind date next Christmas season ;)

Christina , Good question! I don't remember seeing them outside of Bavaria, would anybody know?
