What brought us to leave the comfort of our own four walls in search of new lands & tastes? Sun, fair sky and tasty food. Well, that and the outlook to learn the one or other thing about olives, olive oils and the wonderful region of Puglia. All part of Olivita, a conference presented by Oldways. Below, a visual appetizer, impressions from our trip last week discovering the Bari province including adjoining areas and on top meeting like-minded fellow food blogger (Josh, Heidi and Hillel). More about our trip soon.

Oh my gosh, what glorious pictures! If they're any indication, and I'm sure they are, then you must be having one heck of a good trip. I'm really wowed by your photography skills. What camera do you use?
Nice picts of Puglia !!
Wonderful pictures!!!
Wow, you've made wonderful pictures of one of the places I love the most. Fabulous. Can't wait to hear your stories. Ciao!
I like your photos very much especially the red maple leaves! you have captured the bright sunshine!
fabulous photos once again! They really make you feel like you are there...Isn't Italy the best!
Terrific!!! The photos look so bright and crisp, you are amazing! I spent a long time in Puglia and you really captured all of its beauty.
Fabulous Fotos!
We're going to Bari and the Puglia area on Friday for a week and I hope we see as many beautiful things as you did!
Oh I love Puglia; the light, the food and the people are wonderful, lucky you!
Super schöne Bilder, und die Technik der Seite ist toll. Es funktioniert alles gleich und die Bilderdarstellungen sind wirklich eine Leistung. Super Fotos.
Grüße
Thomas
Was für traumhaft schöne Fotos!
Ich habe zwar schon ein wenig über Apulien gelesen, aber eure Bilder machen einem wirklich Lust, sich diese Gegend genauer anzusehen. Wunderschön!
Your photos are always a pure delight! Italy is a beautiful country and your pictures capture its fascinating spirit very well. May I ask what camera you use?
Southern Italy, particularly regions like Puglia that are off the beaten track for tourists, have just so many wonderful local foods that are hard to find even in other parts of Italy let alone abroad. Ooooh yummm! Your lovely pictures are making me very jealous, here in damp cold England!
I'm curious to read more about your trip in my own home region and the places you have spent your time! (wondering if you have been in my village too!) it's good to see that Puglia is known as well as other parts of Italy, even though most people tend to go always in the same places, we have many more beauty down there. Beautiful pictures, as always! :)
The subjects in your photos are brilliant. Are you ever nervous taking photos of people? I am struggling to get over that, but perhaps that is also due to cultural differences. People here are not very open or warm. Your photos show people who certainly look warm and friendly - great job!
Its so gorgeous! What program did you use to make the photos pop up like that? :)
What more can I add than 'FANTASTIC PHOTOS'? The colours are so fresh and warm, how I wish to be there right now. Can't wait for more details about your trip!
You take the nicest pictures and have the greatest recipes! I was just wondering what the fruit in picture 26 (I think) is. It's round and a pinkish red. Can't wait to see more pictures. And maybe some recipes?
Meg, Antoine,
The trip down to Puglia was really great and informative! Camera wise we use both a Nikon D70s and a Nikon D200 and couldn't be any happier with them.
Kim, And I hope you'll enjoy your time there. I'd love to hear about your experiences down there, drop me a line if you liked it too!
Fiordizucca, Now I'm curious, too! We'll write more about our trip soon, but afterwards you have to reveal where you're coming from ;)
Jessica, Ahhh, the subject of taking pictures of other people. I, too, have been nervous about it for quite some time. Until I threw all of my worries over board and started approaching the people and asking permission. In most cases people respond friendly and are quite proud (having a business card with your blog's URL comes in handy at times). Sometimes I offer to send them copies of the photos.
Janice, Thank you! The function used to overlay images on the current page was realized using a JavaScript lightbox plugin. Google for lightbox and it'll give you plenty of options.
Jelena, It's a small pomegranate. We saw so many pomegranate and persimmon trees, how I wish these would also grow here in Germany!

It has been said in the comments already of course, but you make the best pictures!!!
I long to go back to Italy!

Beautiful pics! Thanks for sharing those moments with us.

These images rival your company- beautiful! You both really captured the richness, the raw beauty of the area. I had such a stellar time, learning, savoring, and immersing myself in meal after meal of Puglian specialties- now I can salivate all over again whenever I view your piccies! Ta for both capturing and sharing the moment.
so beautiful. thanks!
I'm blown away by the beauty of your pictures! Color, composition, each one is a little work of art. Ever thought about turning your career towards photography?
