So simple, yet it had never crossed my mind to try this out. Reading Debbie's article on frozen grapes and her rave review of their texture and taste, we literally dove for the grapes we just brought home from that days shopping and migrated them to a colder climate.

We were simply wowed by the results and also made some interesting observations. Red grapes seem to freeze more thoroughly and become harder than their green friends. I would imagine, it may have to do with the level of sugar contained in the grapes, since size-wise it should've been vice-versa. The green ones had a soft core, comparable to sorbet like texture. It's also a good idea to go for seedless grapes, otherwise it's only half the fun.
'Glad we stumbled over Debbie's post, as this is a real keeper. Good and healthy sweet snack for hot summer days and evenings... O.

So exciting, and so pretty! I've been hesitant to buy grapes lately because at the farmers market they come in such huge bundles, and Im afraid they will go to waste. But Im definitely going to get some on wednesday when the market comes around again!
Plus, they photograph beautifully! ;)
I too was inspired by Debbie's post. I put up an entry last week about freezing fruit with dry ice to carbonate it. I had fun photographing my oranges. I imagine you would have fun freezing all sorts of fruits.
Hey Nicky,
The grapes sure look good - but the new look of delicious days is even better! I just wanted to congratulate you, your blog is (to me at least) definitely one of the most interesting of the Web, both visually and contentwise. :)
Marie
It seems Deb's post has been inspiring many! I've got a bunch of grapes in my freezer right now. I haven't tried them yet, but am now eagerly anticipating heading home after work. Your photos are nothing short of perfect!
Lovely blog and lovely post. I grew up on frozen grapes since we always had far more grapes growing in our backyard than we could ever eat in one summer... we would freeze them and snack on them throughout the year - delicious.
I have featured this entry in my new blog - justataste.blogspot.com - as a "tasty bite of the day." Thanks for providing such excellent fodder for me!
These are really great macro shots !
Well done...
In some way it reminds me of the frozen berries I got served in Finland along with a reindeer dish... the cold/warm contrast worked well...
Anyway, welcome on Photoblogs.org ;)
Great site. Fantastic macro photography. Now it's off to freeze some grapes...
These are great... The sense of form and texture is so strong.
Great idea and great pictures!

Thanks! ;) - yes seedless grapes are definitely the better choice.
Hi McAuliflower,
Your carbonated fruits look both so cool and intriguing - the orange appears to have a fur trimming... ;) great shot!
Marie,
Thank you! At times it can consume one's free time quite a bit, but then again it is great fun, too :)
Shannon,
Wow! That is quite something, seeing a little version of our blog being featured..:)) I'm more than flattered. Love the idea of your blog!

Thank you - I can only return the compliments on your own photography. Very well taken pictures!
I love frozen grapes - my mom used to make them for us when we were kids because I couldn't eat any artificial coloring.
Besides - your pictures are so pretty!
i couldn't love this idea or these photos more! cheers and thank you. mav
Wow, i never know about frozen grapes before. Will try to do some tomorrow. Btw, what's the secrets for such a beautiful photography? I love the pink background and the sharpness of the grapes. It's fantastic. Do you have your own studio or something? Btw, i love your blogs and spend almost half of this day reading all of your post. Keep up the good work :)
Yum! im actually eating some right now! Another healthy frozen snack to try could be frozen juice icecubes. Thanks for the idea!
my cousin told me about this idea- since i liked frozen orange, i figured i'd probably like this too!! and.. I LOVE THEM!! they are scrummy :P I'm actually eating some at the moment too :) never tried freezing the red tho, the green ones are great!
YUMMY! We planted Concord Grapes last year and the vines are overflowing this year. Going to try and freeze a few. Hope this works, sounds like a wonderful afternoon treat.

I've been wanting to try this for ages! But I ended up eating my grapes before I could freeze em (and they weren't seedless so I figured it wouldn't be such a good idea). I'll get some seedless grapes and try this...
